Inspiration

First Spiral Plan

Follow the SparkFun tutorial for a basic sound visualizer using a red board and Arduino:

2D and 3D Modeling

  • I wanted to build off the Voronoi experiments I did in Rhino, but the file is… massive (400MB) so I need to see what’s going on there.
  • Assignment 8 is an initial design idea for a table but this could be modified to be the wall piece for the sound board display.

Planning and Process Considerations

  • Work on Voronoi designs in Rhino/Grasshopper for general aesthetic (use CNC machining week to test out workflow)
  • Order SparkFun cart (below) and make a simple sound visualizer
  • After getting the pieces and parts to work; design PCB with more custom features for the project
  • Is the final piece a table or a wall hanging?
  • Based on the CNC machining table design- the openings could be resin filled or acrylic panels laser cut- with programmable LED strips below
  • Could have wall piece based on sketch above that has some openings as shelves? Back lit?
