molding and Casting תבניות
We decided to create this week's project together as a group.
Oded Shorer, Omer Ayal, Neta Amir, jonathan Ohayon Gali Baly and myself.
we were inspired by the Israeli children's book "Dira Lehaskir" (appartment to rent), by Lea Goldberg. the story is about an appartments building that has all kinds of different tenants.

we decided that each of us will create a mold for one floor. we all started with the same Template file and we all have the same male connector, which will be connected to a female-female connector.
Oded made the basic file, with the connectors and the block of wax sizes.

i created a model on rhino. i added a canal that will be a hole to pour material. we all had the same frame. to add the model into. we had an extraction angle of 5 deg. on the sides.

I milled a block of wax on shopbot. i used 1/8 inch flat end milling bit for the rough mill. for the finish milling, i used 1/8 inch ball nose milling bit. כרסמתי בלוק של שעווה בשופ-בוט. השתמשתי בכרסם של 1/8 אינץ' בעל ראש שטוח בשביל הכרסום הגס. ועבור הכרסום הסופי, השתמשתי בכרסם 1/8 אינץ' בעל ראש עגול.
i milled both partsof the firs mold, one block of wax for each. כרסמתי את שני צידי התבנית . בלוק שעווה אחד לכל צד.
after that. i poured silicone - smooth sil-940- to both wax mold. it took the silicone half a day to be dry.i extracted the silicon from the wax. לאחר מכן שפכתי סיליקון ( סיליקון למאכל) לתוך 2 תבניות השעווה . לקח לסיליקון חצי יום להתייבש. חילצתי את הסיליקון מהשעווה.

now the silicone is going to be my negative mold. we poured alabaster cast. into the mold. it took 15- 30 minutes to dry. one problem we all had, was that we didn't leave a hole for the air to get out. עכשיו הסיליקון הופך להיות התבנית הנגטיבית. שפכתי גבס אלבסטר כדי לייצר את המודל. לקח לזה 15-30 דק' להתייבש. בעיה אחת שהייתה לכולנו, היא שלא השארנו חור ליציאת אוויר.
