13. Applications and implications

This week was based on application and implication of the final project.Basically the week requires to do the following things.

  1. Track the final Project and to masterpiece it

  2. Estimate about the wild card week

  3. Estimate about Machine designing group project.

Through the week

I planned to make a wearable gesture controlled slide changer as my final Project.

In this week the major thing that is to be done is that we have to answer some basic questions that had been asked in the fab academy schedule.i.e

Q. What will it do ?

A:As the name implies the slide changer will changes the slide to and fro by means of gesture control application and it will produce laser source from it

Q. Who’done what beforehand ?

A: Normal slide changers are there in the market but i couldn’t find a wearable one with gesture control.

Q. What will you design ?

A: I need to design a

  1. Circuit using Eagle software and either cut it using a vinyl cutter or a milling machine and solder the components as in minimal size

  2. Make a casing for the circuit with wearable shape to hand and make the gesture control especially in areas of changing slide and the complex part is to switch on the laser when the pointing finger is up with all other finger closed.

Q. What Materials and components will be used ?

A: For making the circuit there is copper sheets available at the fablab trivandrum and for making the casing it is estimated to make a 3D printed casing and for providing support padding the acrylic sheet is used and for cutting it the laser cutter is been used.

The basic sensors used are MPU 6050(ACCELEROMETER/GYRO)

If the project is not working by using MPU6050 then I have to

The basic Microcontroller planned is to execute the project is ,ATMEGA 328 P

And the laser source is also there in the lab.

BAttery Source.

Q. Where will come from ?

A:Atmega 328 is there in the fablab and i had already purchased MPU6050 from aliexpress and the laser source is also there in the lab.

Q. How much will they cost ?

A:The estimated budget is around 1000 Rupees or around 15 dollars

Q. What parts and systems will be made ?

A:Almost all the parts will be made in the lab apart from Mpu 6050 or any other sensor module that is to be used.

Q. What process will be used ?

A: 1.3D modelling

2.PCB designing

3.PCB Production

4.Vynyl cutting

5.Laser cutting

6.3D printing

Q. What questions need to be answered ?

A:s too complicated to make a gesture by using fingers to switch ON/OFF the pointer laser .

How a design can be made to use the product for small ,medium or big hands

Q. How will it be evaluated ?

A:It can be evaluated by enabling the model to change the slides in different gestures.

Other Things did in this weeek

The other things did this week was to estimate a project that can be done in

  1. Wildcard Week 2.Machine Designing Week.

In Wild card week I proposed to make a Composite using Waste plastic and sand that can be effectively used for making unbreakable tiles and Stronger Bricks than the existing bricks available in market and to enable it at a cheaper price.

  1. In Machine week I proposed to make a Tender Coconut dehusking machine and if it is ok with the team members We i go further with it.
