3.COMPUTER AIDED DESIGN

Week 3 was based developing a design Concept using different 2D and 3D Software.

AIM

TO develop a design for the extruder that can be used for final project i.e AMCAP ,using various softwares like ,

PAINT,GIMP.FREE CAD,INKSCAPE etc for 2D Designing and FUSION 360 for 3D Designing and analysis.

OBJECTIVE

1.The Main objective of the 3rd week scheduled as Computer Aided Designing, is to get hands on various softwares, its designing constraints and to study the various formats of the file.

2.My idea was to develop a design that is useful for final project and to design a logo for the final project.

Working WITH MICROSOFT PAINT

1.While using MS paint, different tools like,Pencil, fill, shapes, etc for drawing the model were tested.

2.By that the estimated Extruder model were drawn using MS PAINT

WORKING WITH INKSCAPE

1.Here also tried different tool like Transforming tool, selection, scale, shapes,Text ,Spray paint etc.

2.Studied different option to draw a straight line and curves and learned its shortcuts.

3.The Basic Process like Clipping,Cropping were executed.

4.The usage of Fill and Stroke for making a vector image were studied.

Then to study the vector image conversion I opened one my image tried to convert the image into vector format

Then I Converted the image into vector image using path and trace bitmap option.

  1. Thus the estimated design for the extruder were drawn in 2D by using Inkscape

WORKING WITH AUTODESK FUSION 360(2d)

I was using the Fusion 360 for the first time and my intention was to find a way to study this software because it finds interesting and definitely a useful one in future.

1.The First Thing I did was to study the basics of fusion 360 from the video tutorial by AUTODESK.

2.Then went through the tools like creating a circle,Straight line, etc

3.The went through the commands for trimming etc

4.Thus the estimation of the extruder was doen in 2D using fusion 360.

WORKING WITH FUSION 360(3D)

While working with Fusion 360 the main objective was to create the model and Assemble it

1.The model were drawn using different tools of 3D.

2.First I created a plane in the quadrant.

3.I selected the front view as the working plane

4.Created the estimated model using basic shapes like cylinder, rectangle, etc

5.Went through the trimming options and some of the errors occurred

6.Joining was bit difficult for me as a beginner because of selection of planes went wrong.

7.Later Assembled the Parts which comprises of

i.A major cylindrical path

ii.Tread for joining the nozzle

iii.The heating coil part

iv.The holding path

8.Thus the assembled view were created

WORKING WITH 3D PAINT

while working with 3d paint i felt like it’s just a software that can do touch up work

INFERENCE

On further Study the details regarding the 2D and 3D Concepts,I infer the following details.

(i)Basically the image is of two types

1) Vector image and 2) Raster image

(ii) Vector images a better to do laser cutting operations and inkscape is the better software to do the bit trace.

(iii)Comparatively fusion 360 feels advanced in designing and it can be well used for 3D printing.

(iv)STL format is the best for 3D printing.

(v)IGES format is good for intertransfer of files.
