Roland Scanning

Having just purchased a Roland MDX20 I had been trying out the different functions of this and it was now time to experiment with the scanner. Being concerned about both the needle and the duration of time I looked for a simple shape to scan and used a scalextric car that I had previously created as part of the scalextric challenge.

This was initially put into the scanner and draft quality chosen, after about an hour less than half the car was scanned. So mindful of this I set aside a day to do the scanning ensuring that the computer power settings were set such that the computer would not shut down during the scan.

The scan was set at fine - taking a reading every 1mm, the overall size entered and it was then left to scan - overall the time took about 3 hours and was the only system to return a complete scan able to be taken to the next stage.

I have been so impressed with the scan that my next task is to find a toy model of my own car and scan that making the necessary alterations to have the body fit the scalextric chassis.

The scan of the car is below.
