About me

Hi, I’m Zack! I am a mechanical engineer and motorcycle enthusiast.

Me on my ninja

When I was 6 years old, Kawasaki brainwashed me with a super cool toy motorcycle and so 25 years later I subconsciously ended up buying a real Kawasaki motorcycle as an adult! lol

My background

I was born in a nice city called Taipei, Taiwan and then grew up in New Jersey, USA. I went to the University of Michigan to study Mechanical Engineering and Technology Commercialization, and then moved to Austin, Texas for a few years to work in the power industry.

Now I’m back in Taiwan and attending Fab Academy out of the Fablab Taipei node! :)

My dream is to combine resources from the East and West to build meaningful products and businesses that help people around the world while fighting climate change.

Previous work

I was a power engineer at an electric utility in my past life. Mostly did engineering/business-y things behind a desk, but some days I got to go do really cool stuff IRL with really big machines!

Making electricity is really hard and underappreciated! The transition to renewables and a sustainable economy will be tough but we must do it! Everyone can do their part in the meantime by conserving electricity and choosing lower carbon activities.

Motivation

I’ve always liked making things and the idea of being a maker, so now I’m investing this time in Fab Academy to become better in those skills, before my next job or whatever comes next. I hope this time in Fab Lab could even lead to the next opportunity with digital fabrication, Fab City sustainability initiatives, startup product ideas, philanthropic initiatives around the world, etc.!

Either way, I want to enjoy this time just being a maker, or at least learning to be a better one!
