About me

Hi! I am Katrina. I am an architect based in Asuncion, Paraguay (the heart of South America!!) I’ve been working in the social housing sector in Habitat for Humanity as a permanent staff since 2013.

My background

I could define my backround as a lot of apparently different and incompatible opportunities and paths converging in the person I am today.

I always wanted to be an architect, and I have proof of that in my 2nd year school book where I said I wanted to be one XD.

When I started my career I realize that something was missing, If only I had followed the common/expected path of my career maybe I wouldn’t found what I needed, and that is to make real positive changes for the most vulnerable and less heard people in my country.

Then, I started to be more focused on the “social Sciences” as urbanism, social development, project management, GIS, humanitarian coordination and disaster and risk reduction.

That “social approach” of my career lead me to coordinate (1) the social accompaniment for relocation for 1.000 families living in flood prone areas, (2) The Integral improvement of an historical but vulnerable neighborhood in Asuncion and (3) Lead a Disaster response for 3.000 families affected by flooding in 2019.

All this work done in just 3 years almost made me crazy.

I think that was the reason I started to think even more about the social sciences but in this case I turned into focus on myself so I became an Ontological Coach wich main subject is to learn how to always be learnig.

And speaking of learning, influenced by all of that and realizing that I’ve been always fascinated with data analysis, facilitation, planning, learning and evaluation I recently became Monitoring, Evaluation, Learning and Accountability specialist in my organization.

I told you, It could look like as a lot of incompatible things put all togheter but for me is more about taking opportunities and use the best of them to do the best of my self. (and this is how a Coach talks haha)

Previous work

My previous work is more related to social approach in urban projects, housing, community development, etc. I would mention that I colaborated to publish more than 5 guides, sistematizations, evlauation and learning documentes and you’re more than welcome to review them here.

Hand washing community stations

Just to mention some recent previous work I think is more related to the fab academy. I recently co-worked with more architects to design “higyene stations” for communities in need of handwashing promotion during 2020 and 2021. I must mention that we didn’t use digital fabrication skills to do that.
