About me

< I’m making a nicer banner, but for now, That’s me.

Hello! My name is James Khan. I am a Senior Innovation Technician at the Creative Design Lab in the country of Trinidad & Tobago . The Creative Design Lab houses our country’s first Fab Lab, and we are based at our National Science Centre, so we conduct allot of other science education projects as well.

The National Science Centre is run by NIHERST (National Institute of Higher Education, Research, Science and Technology), a govenment body under our Ministry of Education.

My background

I was born here in Trinidad. Went to school at Hillview College (we use the British school system, so College is really High School). Then I went to Queen’s University in Kingston, Ontario, Canada to study Electrical and Computer Engineering.

I used to be an avid rugby player in my younger days, and still do a little refereeing and coaching on the side.

The one goofy thing that I am wierdly proud of is that at 14 years old I had the biggest beard in my whole high school, bigger than any student, teacher or grounds staff.

(Not the most recent picture, but I wanted to show off how epic my Covid-19 Lockdown beard was) LOL

Work

My main role at the Creative Design Lab is in the robotics department where we design and run various educational programs such as demonstrations, workshops, camps and clubs. Our department is the “Techy” group, so we lend a hand to all the different programs and projects that our organisation runs, but most things are centred around science/technology education and popularisation.
