Composites
Design and make a 3D mold (~ft2), and produce a fiber composite part in it
For this week activity we need to make a 3D mold (one ft2 at least), I decide to make a robot helmet, since some years ago we made a humanoid robot, so i decided to remake a new head and start making another robot.
I decide to make the robot helmet based on Iron Man.
Mold
First i try to make a mold using the old robot helmet, so i try to thermoforming it.
I don't like this mold because i want a different appearance for the new robot, so i decide to make a new mold using an Iron Man helmet .stl downloaded from "http://www.thingiverse.com/". Then i use the 123 Make and Pepakura software trying to design a mold using paper fold or mdf and laser cut. Finally i decide to use Pepakura and make a mold with paper.
