answering the questions below:
- What will it do? Who's done what beforehand? What will you design? What materials and components will be used? Where will come from? How much will they cost? What parts and systems will be made? What processes will be used? What questions need to be answered? How will it be evaluated?
- Your project should incorporate 2D and 3D design, additive and subtractive fabrication processes, electronics design and production, embedded microcontroller interfacing and programming, system integration and packaging
- Where possible, you should make rather than buy the parts of your project
- Projects can be separate or joint, but need to show individual mastery of the skills, and be independently operable
I rethought all the possibles of my final projects. From the first one- selected cat litter box to second one wifi-controlled keyboard to the final one - automatically flip calendar & the tomato clock.
I wanna make something fit my working desk , let myself be more efficient and feel happy. So I decided to make a table calendar .
The canlendar would flip automatically at a specific time everyday.
And I will design a RGB light with it to remind me to focus to finish the current workflow and then relax.
I hope that I won's use or use less batteries to protect the environment, so it will use usb power supply.
I searched several examples for flip calendar / endless calendar / , such as Laser Cut Perpetual Flip Calendar by Durss, he posted a specific making plan. DIY Endless Calendar from Wood by The Q, Perpetual Calendar by KiwiCo Eureka Crate,
And for the electronics part, I searched fabacademy websites, I found Output device to control step motor by Moath, and . the video shows the same functions that I need.
I will design a PCB board that can control the step motor and RGB light , and for the RGB light , the input will be the button, when you press the button , the clock start counting the time ,when it comes to the setting minutes, the RGB LED will light up , for the step motor part, it will operate by the drive when on a specific setting time.
For the PCB I will use atmega 328p which I used last year, so I familiar with it.
A wooden frame : which can hold the calendar part and the edges will be all smooth , good to use on the table. And the I will put my name on the frame so that people will know who design it and it will make me feel good to see it on my table.
A nice looking RGB : I will make a RGB resin which kind of jewellery like and the light will be reflected on different planes.
Resin materail : epoxy resin
Wood board : 3mm,5mm or maybe 6mm (to laser cut them into the frame pieces)
Clock module: MH realtime Clock modules 2 , it is used widely during the MG classes, so I can get it easily
step moter : 28bJY-48,5V,DC, one of the MG students used this kind of step moter to make little robotics , so I could use his to test before I bought the materials
step motor driver
PCB components : atmage 328p IC, Crystal Oscillator 16mhz (I searched the Arduino board datasheet) , capacitor, resistor, jump wires etc.
Button, big one for the main power , small one for control the LED
USB cable : to use USB cable to instead of using batteries
PLA materials (for 3D printing)
Wax : to polish the wood
For the materials and components, I'll get some of them from Szoil , some of them from NG Space and some of them from Taobao onine shop.

2D design : use inkscape/fusion 360/ solidsworks/ lasermaer to design the frame and the case, export to dxf. files to laser cut.
3D design : design and print the connection part.
PCB design and manufacture
soldering: solder the components onto the board
How to set the clock module at let it send the siginal to step motor?
How to make sure that the step motor will rotate the precise angle?
How do you deal with it if there are 31days in one month?
The input part will be a button .
The output part will be LED and step motor.
Laser cutter & 3D Printer
The frame and base should be strong enough to hold the parts.
The system should be precise enough to rotate the exact angle.
