With each passing day, more households are adopting these adorable four-legged friends, naturally increasing the needs of pet owners. In this context, Smart Paw presents itself as a response to the growing demands of those seeking the best for their faithful companions. Raising a pet can pose its challenges. Modern life often keeps us busy, and the concern for the well-being of our furry friends can be overwhelming. Smart Paw is born from the idea of making pet raising simpler, more connected, and above all, smarter. This smart collar goes beyond being a simple accessory for your pet. It is a tool that integrates cutting-edge technology to offer a complete and connected experience. From access control to temperature monitoring and medical history recording, Smart Paw becomes an indispensable ally for pet care and connection. With Smart Paw, you not only improve your dog's life but also strengthen that special bond you share with him. Join us on this exciting journey towards the future of canine raising.

I also chose this project because I have 10 dogs at home, and I like to know that they are well, even when I can't be with them due to work or school. Additionally, they need to eat at specific times and be able to open doors to go to the yard for their needs. Below, I attach some pictures of some of my dogs.

About Smart Paw

I am pleased to introduce Smart Paw, an innovative prototype that redefines how we care for and connect with our beloved pets. Developed with cutting-edge technology and a focus on animal comfort and safety, Smart Paw is designed to provide pet owners with a complete and connected experience.

Innovative features:

  1. Advanced sensors: Remotely manage advanced sensors and servo motors in real time to dispense food to your pet. Ultrasonic sensor for precise control of your pet's food.
  2. Cameras: View your pet in real-time through the app, capturing special moments even when you're not around.
  3. Dog temperature monitoring: Ensure your dog is always comfortable and safe with real-time temperature alerts.
  4. QR plate engraved for medical history: Record your dog's medical history, including vaccinations, baths, and contact details in case of loss.
  5. Connectivity through a WiFi module application: All functions are centralized in an easy-to-use application, allowing you to stay in tune with your pet from anywhere.

This prototype represents the future of canine raising, merging technology with love for our pets.

Has worked:

  • Real-time streaming from the ESP cameras.
  • The functioning of the water dispenser system.
  • The responsiveness of the web application.

Hasn't worked:

  • The automatic feeder has not worked perfectly, as food sometimes gets stuck when the compartments open.

What questions need to be resolved?

  • How can the automatic feeder be redesigned to prevent food from getting stuck?
  • What other functions could be added to increase the system's value for users?
  • How could the user interface of the web application be improved?
  • How to integrate the circuits directly into the power supply, as they currently operate with power sources?

What will happen when?

  • The final presentation for me is going to happen on Jun 10

What have you learned?

  • The importance of an efficient mechanical design to avoid issues like food getting stuck in the automatic feeder.
  • How to integrate multiple technological components (sensors, cameras, dispensers) into a cohesive system.
  • The relevance of user feedback to improve a product.
  • Advanced skills in programming, hardware design, and software development.
Conclusions:
- Positive Aspects:
- The system met most of the established objectives, providing an effective solution for pet monitoring and care.
- The web interface proved to be intuitive and easy to use, facilitating system management by users.

- Areas for Improvement:
- Feeder Material: It is recommended to improve the feeder material to ensure greater durability and resistance.
- Feeder Gates: The servomotors used for the feeder gates sometimes get stuck. It is proposed to develop a prototype 3 to solve this problem and improve system reliability.
- Website Responsiveness: Implement techniques such as media queries or alternative methods to ensure the site is fully responsive and adapts to different screen sizes.
- Security: Strengthen the website's security measures to prevent potential malicious attacks and protect user information.
- Visualization and Information Update Optimization: Implement JavaScript algorithms that allow refreshing only the necessary page components, improving efficiency and user experience.
- Real-Time Streaming: Replace static images with real-time video streams to provide a more dynamic and engaging experience.

- Research more about lipo batteries and implement them in the necklace

With these adjustments and improvements, the Smart Paw system can evolve to offer an even more robust and reliable solution for pet care.
