Task To Do:

  • Complete your final project, tracking your progress

  • What is deadline? How much time do I have left?
Deadline of the project is 14th June. Total eight days are left.

what tasks have been completed, and what tasks remain?
The first objective of this project is to make cool storage for vegetables on the evaporative cooling principle. But for this, I need to know the temperature and humidity range.
    Major completed task:
    1. I did market survey and decided my customer i.e street vendors.
    2. I made small prototype by using jute pads for collecting data i.e temperature and humidity.
    3. Made 2D and 3D design in Solidworks.
    4. Made 3D printed parts of the project and cut the box in laser cutter.
    5. Made temperature sensor as input device to measure the inside temperature.

    what has worked?what hasn't?
    Working:-
    1. The structure or box is fitting. I designed the channel for distributing the water on the honeycomb pad and cut it in the laser cutter.
    2. So, Assembly is done.
    3. Also My presentation slide is ready.
    Not Working:-
    1. The project code was not working. I have to work on it.
    2. Electronics part was remaining.

what questions need to be resolved?
    1. Need to work on programming of the project.
    2. Need to do electronics packaging.

How will complete the remaining task?
    1. I will check my project code and if I have any difficulty then I will discuss with my colleague Suvarna.
    2. After completing the electronics and programming part I will make the enclosure for them and do the proper wiring.

    what have you learned?
    1. I came to know about various 2D and 3D designing software.
    2. Electronics and programming was very new for me, but I learn these things. My colleague rohan and Arefin help me.
    3. I came to know about various machines like laser cutter, 3D printer, etc.

    Summary of the project:

Cultivating plants and harvesting them is one thing but preserving them for future use is one of the major problem faced by farmers and vegetable vendors. On an average 20-25% Agriculture produce in India is lost, in which major part is the post harvest loss due to improper handling of agriculture produce. So, I want to make a cool storage box will help vendors to keep their vegetables fresh not only during summers, but also in the winter season. Cool air from the cooler will reduces temperature of the storage chamber by 5-8 degree Celsius and increasing relative humidity by 15 to 30 per cent. Thus it enhances the storage life of fresh fruits and vegetables to up to four-five days.

    Processes and purpose:

1: 3D Design: Used to design box and electronics packaging box (later to be laser cutted) in Solidworks.
2: laser cutting: (Subtractive manufacturing), Used to made the storage box by using acryllic, also used for creating a box for housing the electronics
3: 3D Printing: (additive manufacturing), Used 3D printing to 3D print a hinge for opening or closing of the door.
4: Electronics design: Used Eagle software to design a few board for my final project, which will hold LM35 and the ATtiny 44 processor.
5: Electronics Production: Used Fab modules with modela MDX-20 machine to mill my board.
6: Micro controller Programming: I used Arduino IDE write code for the micro controller, As it is much easier to code than in C or embedded C.

    Project Plan:-

I have planned my work related to final project. Its really difficult to stick to schedule but I tried my best. Because other than assembly and programming stuff I always stick to my schedule. So, I made Gantt chart to complete my project on time.

I have decided that I will divide my project into parts and try to finish one part in a one week. In each week, I will complete small part of my project. So that I can track my project and try to finish it on time.

You can see my final project Here.
