Observation
In our VA kitchen we brought vegetables from local market in bulk quantity. There was need for food or vegetables preservation in VA since the conventional refrigeration started malfunctioning because of electricity fluctuations. Maintenance was not available for a long time. After 2-3 days, I observed that vegetables did not look fresh, especially the leafy vegetables. Weekly vegetables brought from market in bulk needed to be preserved. I realized that I was not alone facing this problem but also the farmers and vegetable vendors are facing them. So, firstly I will do the market survey to decide my customer.
Available Solution
We knew there are already available refrigerators in the market. But refrigerator needs lot of power or electricity. Lack of continuous electricity is one of the major issue. Cold storage are also available in market but all these solutions are not affordable to farmers or vendors. Mitti cool We need a storage unit for having vegetables fresh.
Objective
The challenge is to design a system which prevent the weight loss and works on low cost and consume low energy. Another challenge is to maintain the temperature and relative humidity inside the system for preservation purpose.
Our idea
I will make cool storage box based on the principle of evaporative cooling that's why we named as EVAPORATIVE FRIDGE. In the evaporative fridge we can preserve vegetables for this purpose, I have to stop Microbial growth and drying of vegetables. For microbial growth I have to maintain temperature and for drying i have to maintain humidity.

Working of Project
The design of the evaporative system was based on the principle of evaporation being always accompanied by a cooling effect to its surrounding. In Our system storage box of vegetables and cooling unit are different. Cooling unit, storage box is at the bottom and topside resp. In cooling unit water falls on the any material (like jute pads or evaporative pads) after some interval and then fan sucks the dry air from outside which becomes cool after passing from moistened material. As the air passes through the moistened material, it is cooled by evaporation and this cool air uniformly distributed in the storage box or cold storage. Evaporation will takes place when humidity is below 100% and the air begins to absorb water.
