About me

I am Kurt Van Houtte, born 5 march 1973.

I love robots and making. I also love helping people, that’s why I started one of the first makerspaces in Belgium: to help people and artists making stuff. Now I run the fablab at Ugent University and i give workshops to children as a freelancer.

I grew up in a maker family, my father was a metalworker an my mother was a sewster. So you could say i never knew any different. We learned how to fix almost anything in and around the house. I started out as a freelance web-developer and evolved into building robots and devices for local artists and theaters.

It’s not the machines that make the lab, it’s the attitude.
