1. Principles and practices

This week I worked on defining my final project idea and started to getting used to the documentation process. I also read the Fab Charter and got to know what Fab is all about.

My Project

When I started, I had a rough idea of what I wanted to make, being something, either from a game or movie, as I thought it would be cool to bring some of the things we see as “fiction” reality. Before the class started, I decided that I would make the Twitch drone from Rainbow Six Siege into a reality. The drone from the game is able to move around, being wirelessly controlled by the operator, and is able to provide the operator with live camera footage and the ability to shock electronics and people to give advantage to the operators team. In my version, I would like to have all of the features excpet for the shock aspect as I believe that could get dangerous, especially roaming around in a place with a lot of people and electronics. This project would require me to make everything from scratch, and to be able to display live footage and control to my phone.

Brainstorm

Below is the sketch and brainstorm that I did when thinking of what the drone would look like, its dimensions, and the features that it would have on it. The sketch, although not the final product, represents what I would like for my drone to look like.

The sketch is supposed to resemble something close to the actual twitch drone which is down below

While I was making my sketch for the project, I was looking through some videos of the twitch drone, and came across a cool video, which is not exactly what I am making, as some parts were reused in the video.

I also found another video which was close to what I wanted to create for my final project.

Purpose and Users

My final project’s purpose is to be able to have a cool gadget that will be able to provide you live feed to a remote location, and I definitely plan to add additional features in the future. The people who will use this project are people who are either fans of the Rainbow Six Siege game, people who have interests in these types of drones, or people who have use for something that can get them live video feed in a remote location.

Final Thoughts

I thought that this week was intersting as I was able to see what I wanted to build and the sketch brought it a step closer into being a reality. I am excited going into this program, and I believe that the Twitch drone will turn out to be cool!
