I would like to make a 3D crocheting machine as the final project.
A 3D printer makes a 3D data into real by deviding the data into plural layers and depositing resin layer by layer.
And I came up with an idea to do the same thing by crocheting, not using resin.
Crochet, calld かぎ針編み in Japanese, is a way to create fabric from thread by using a crochet hook.
It looks very similar to knitting but how to knit is different, it needs only one hook for instance.
So why crochet?
When we use resin for 3D printing, we need chemical changes to make resin to melt and harden, but when we crochet (or knit) something, we need no chemical change because a fabric you crochet is shapen by its own structure.
This means, you can 'undo' a thing into an original thread with no chemical change as well.
And I'm still considering which is better for this project, crocheting or knitting.
Actually I'm still new to crocheting and I know nothing about knitting yet, I'm planning to ask a girl in our lab about this issue and try both by hand firstly.
