17. Invention, intellectual property and income

This week’s assignment is to develop a plan for dissemination of my final project, prepare drafts of my summary slide and video clip, and put them in my directory.

Dissemination Plan and Copyrights

I started this week by deciding what type of copyright to do. Since I am not planning to sell my project, I will use a creative commons license. After looking through the website, I settled on a Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International since it seemed like the perfect fit for my project. This would allow people to share, copy, and redistribute my project for free, but they must credit me and they cannot use my project commercially.

I will add this icon and text to the bottom of my final project page to notify people about my creative commons license.

Creative Commons License
This work is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 International License.

While looking through the different licenses on this weeks page, I noticed the Fab license that I had noticed throughout this program. This doesn’t carry as much weight as the creative commons license, but it adds a bit of extra protection to my intellectual property and prevents my project from being stolen and sold commercially.

Presentation Drafts

Slide

For my slide, I decided to include the major elements of my car. I displayed an image of the final product, as well as images of the electronics and the interface. The final composite was the main focus of the slide, and it was the largest. The next largest was the image of my interface because it was the second system, and my project could not function without it. I displayed my electornics as well because they were another major component of my project that was crucial to the functionality of the design.

Video

For my video, I used the editing software DaVinci Resolve. It is free, and its interface did not take long to learn. Through my video, I wanted to show the process of developing my final project. I showed the development of the CAD, electronics, and software, and the use of different processes, such as 3D printing, laser cutting, and electronics design and production. Finally, I showed my prototype and final design of my project.
