20. Project development

What is the deadline? June 19th, 2019

Completed Tasks: numerous mechanical design iterations involving laser cutting, 3d printing and cnc embroidery. I’ve made the microcontroller board to use button input to start and stop the motor. I’ve selected the necessary motor, bearings.

Remaining Tasks: design new structure, laser cut new structure, laser cut living hinge surface, design and laser cut interface with control buttons, design and make new board with 2 buttons and potentiometer, system integration - wire management, final video and slide.

I also need to start and complete the interface and application assignment, I need to finish the input assignment (I need to read the input sucessfully), and I need to finish the networking assignment.

How will I complete the remaining tasks on time? I’ve been tracking my schedule down to the hour each day. I have written out my plan for each day up until June 19th.

Here’s my schedule from here on. My strategy is to focus all assignments towards finishing the final. Key to this was making a motor board that could serve to complete the final but also Output Week and Interface Week.

June 2 week Monday - Motor board - Board milling - Board soldering - Wildcard week assignment

Tuesday - Wildcard week assignment - Motor board programming – with greg - Documentation/upload photos/videos start video - Start IP assignment 1 hr tops - Develop dissemination plan - Create slide - Create video

Wednesday - Catchup on documentation - Interface design drawing – forwards, backwards, speed - Motor board programming and testing - Finalize slide - Make video

Thursday - FA class – I got called on! - work: networking and communications assignment - Mill final board - Solder 3 boards - Program 2 boards

Friday - Start and finish the interface assignment - Bring material home to laser cut at cic.

Saturday/Sunday - Design work on final project - Living hinge - Electronics integration - structure

June 9 week – final project development Monday

What has worked, what hasn’t? The concept is strong, tho the mechanics are still a little sloppy. I hope with the final structural design I can isolate the motion a little better.

What questions still need to be resolved? I need to select and order the DC power converter so I can plug my machine into the wall.

What have I learned? Mostly persistence!
