invention, intellectual property, and income¶
Assignment¶
- Develop a plan for dissemination of your final project.
- [] Complete your final project, tracking your progress
Added Unexpected Bonus¶
Working with Erik Jambor to learn Divinci, lay out my final video clip and final slide was a real treat. Since he also worked in fulfillment and product development for a time, I am also looking forward to learning from him about his experiences with manufacturing in china and distrubting in the US.
The Work¶
No asset files this week. All files that are completed are part of the final and will be there.
Dissemination Plan¶
I don't quite have a plan for manufacturing my device but I do plan to make atleast two. One for our house and one for my nephew Mika. I will hand deliver and set his parents up on telegram and that will help me figure out what further development I need to do to make this product viable. Current dissemination will be to have the instructions available here on the Fab academy site.
For the pill dispenser itself. The things that make it different will be the design and the UI. A friend of my daughters has offered to work on an app with me. Since this needed to be my work, I will make his app V2, but am looking forward to seeing if we can do something other than telegram that may include record keeping and other features.
Secondly, I have a few other ideas for designing products around staying independent and helping the caregiver worry less by "tracking" the users self care. I am looking forward to using all the skills that I have developed in the Fab Academy to continue down this road and develop new products. I hope that by being a part of the Fab eco-system, I will be inspired to make new things and help others to bring thier dreams and ideas to life. I also hope to collaborate with the creatives in my family who have started thier own businesses including GGL Creative and Robin Salant.
Eventually, I could see these products all being connected into one database that could be used with AI perhaps to understand patterns and suggest improvements and interventions to help caregivers and users.
Tracking your progress:¶
what tasks have been completed, and what tasks remain?
Finish the regulator/ power board
Finish the application
Testing - to fine tune the light readings.
Making sure that the light fits into the body.
Integration of all the pieces together and bolting it down.
VIDEO
FINAL SLIDE
what's working? what's not?
The regulator board is not proven yet and I am not sure its going to work. I have had many challenges with mounting terminals to the board.
what questions need to be resolved?
Does the regulator board work? Will this all come together?
what will happen when?
I am starting with the regulator board and at the same time, I am working with a Erik Jambor as a tutor on making the video and final slide. Since my design skills are not my strong suit.
what have you learned?
It would take me months to write all that here.. so much. What a wonderful experience, with really visionary people. Thank yoU!
