13. Applications and implications

This week I worked on defining my final project proposal that integrates the range of units covered.

What will it do?

My final project is a dress simply for aesthetic purposes. I designed it to respond to motion by lighting up.

Who has done what beforehand?

Companies and designers such as Adafruit have done similar projects before; however, the dress i’m designing will be a full experience as motion activates a starry night.

What will you design?

The dress, the PCB microcontroller, and the extra components that will be sewn onto the dress such as resin gems.

What materials and components will be used?

For the PCB:

For the skirt:

  • Blue satin fabric
  • Blue organza fabric

Other electronics:

  • AdaFruit Neopixels
  • MPU6050 Motion Sensor

Where will they come from?

Of course whatever that is available at the lab will be used, however, we did have to purchase a mannequin and the textiles from a local supplier.
