Vinyl Cuttin'

This week we went over some basics in what a vector is, what bitmaps/pixelmaps are and put our vector design to the test with inkscape and the vinyl cutter.  I've done a lot of vinyl cutting and weeding for as220 in the past as well as for my previous employer so most of this was just a refresher but fun none the  less.  The first thing i tried out was tracing a bitmap of the molecular structure of caffeine and added a nice decal to my laptop.

I also cut out a nice little tardis from Doctor Who.  (I'm not a whovian myself but my girlfriend Maggie is a huge fan of the show).  Unfortunately some of the text was too small so the vinyl cutter actually ripped it right off, the words "public call" and "free for use of public pull to open".  Hopefully maggie won't mind.
