19. Project Development

To reach the goal of project ‘Sortbot’, I had to realize several steps as described below. The Gantt Chart and the table below will answer the following questions.

What tasks have been completed, and what tasks remain?

Alignment and ordering screw part completed. IR counter completed. ESP32 Webserver GUI completed. Sorting part and the documentation not yet complete.

what’s working? what’s not?

This is my first time using esp32 as motor control and webserver GUI. I need learn new knowlege week by week. The HTML WEBSERVER GUI should be more user frindly. Also, the roller part work okey but working slowly. I am not enough time to make it perfect. I also have a sorting problem not solve. I need to virbrate the machine everytime I want to sort the screws along the track by hand. This should be improved in the next spiral in coming week (12/6/2021) for complete the poster and one minute video presentation.

what questions need to be resolved?

I design the rollor using 3D print, therefore I cannot see the indside operation. It is hard for me ensure Sortbot is functional well. One big question I need to resolve is how to see through the side and easy to assembly Sortbot. Another aspect, I have been working on the code, but it isn’t done yet. I can ensure the webserver is okey. I have done the esp32 webserver test at week 9 MechanicalDesign, Machine Design, but I am still a long way from creating functional code that IR sensor as counter, webserver GUI and DC motor for sorting work together. I need simplified the project to make sure that the project can be complete on time. These are the main issues/ questions I have that I need to resolve

what will happen when?

Even I start the project from week 3, new ideas and minor improvement are non-stop. I have been developing this project all along the duration of the program and it all happened so fast.Nowaday, the presentation day is already coming....

what have you learned?

Reducing the scale of the project to complete the project on time. Set a clear goal and implement project plan.
