About me

Sup? I am Jonathan Chery. I am a high school Computer Science teacher by day and, by night, I am a content creation consultant who enjoys creating and developing tech projects, plays the violin and guitar, and, on occassions, enjoy creative challenge.

My background

I was born and raise in Queens, New York. I spent most of my exciting life there. I have a Bachelor and Masters in Computer Science and I focus on Web Development, Web Design, and Human Computer Interaction. Recently, I found myself interesting in teaching Computer Science and Cybersecurity and Digital Marketing. Some times, I am a bit all over the place but, I always tend to be where I’m suppose to be at the end. My greatness joy is to explore and grow as I walk through life.

Previous work

Here’s a list of where I’ve been and what I’ve done in the past: - Instructional Technologist - Madison Park Vocational Technical High School - Adobe Systems Incorporated - Security Developer - EnergySage - Web Developer - Adobe Systems Incorporated - Cloud Security Engineer - Booz Allen Hamilton - Security Consultant

My Projects

My Project Pitch [Old]

The project I want to create is ambitious. In simple words, I want to create a Scaled-Model Smart Building. This project is an adaptation of Hyejin Ahn’s Final Project - Smart Miniature House.

The reason for this project is because I was placed in the position to teach high schoolers about Smart Building and maintaining Smart Buildings. I thought to myself, it’ll be a good idea to develop a smart building add some functions and mechanics to make it as realistic as possible to be able to teach high schoolers about smart building. This will give the students the ability to apply some programming concepts to the maintaining of Smart Building.

I believe by developing this real-world application to development, students will be able to have a better understanding of the importance of coding and maintaining.

My Project Pitch [New]

Half way into the course, I needed to re-evaluate my final project. I still want to continue building a Smart Building but, I realized the scale I want to build this project would take years. That said, I changed my project to a simple button. A smart button. A programmable button that is connected to the internet and can interact with other things connected to the internet. My inspiration for the project is Flic. My goal is to reverse engineer this button and create my own version of the smart button.
