Computer Aided Design

My initial project idea was to make a little toy robot. Logically, it made sense to start designing the robot.

I wanted to do a 3D presentation of this design, but that sounded a lot easier than done.
My application of choice was Rhinoceros, and it has quite a steep learning curve. I initially wanted to do this design in SketchUp, as I had heard a lot of good things about it. In fooling around in it I found it a little limited with what I wanted to do. In retrospect, it would've probably been easier to do it in SketchUp afterall, but I did manage to learn a lot in Rhino that I hope I can apply at a later point.

After a while fooling around in the application, I managed to get control of basic shapes in Rhino, and started to come up with the shapes that I needed. I moved all the shapes together to show my initial design based on a simple sketch I did. The model currently isn't combined into anything, and probably has a lot of open spots here and there. It will be a good representation to work off of, at least. Personally I'm quite happy with the result.
