Midterm review: Apr 15 (Wed)

Midterm review

  • post a system diagram for your project
  • list the tasks to be completed
  • make a schedule for doing them
  • schedule a meeting with your instructors for a graded review of these and your weekly assignments

Issue #7
What is the Midterm Review?
It is a general review of the documentation completed so far, designed to provide a “snapshot” of each student’s progress at the halfway point of the course (50%). This helps assess who is on track to graduate at the Fab26 Conference and identify any students who may need additional support.
What To Do?
STUDENTS: You must document all assignments completed so far to give evaluators a clear understanding of your work. You should also meet with your Global Evaluator.
INSTRUCTORS: There is an assignment called “Midterm Review” in Nueval. Instructors can use this section to record the student’s status.
GLOBAL EVALUATORS: By the midterm, you should have already met the students assigned to you for global evaluation.

FAB26 Graduation
This year, Fab Academy Graduation will take place in Boston, during the FAB26 Conference. Students who graduate in July will get a free entrance ticket to the whole event. Star making plans!

Issue #8
We’ll be doing a rapid-fire (~1 minute!) reviews of machine projects after the break. We want to collect an index of links to your summary slides, which are in turn linked to your project pages. Post the slide links to this issue, which we’ll collect into an index page*. Please do this at the outset – we won’t be able to do real-time edits during the review.

Issue #8-2
After discussion in the prep meeting … the conclusion is that the 1 minute machine videos were great last year, so we are going to ask for a slide and a <= 1 minute video for the machine projects. This will also be a warm-up for creating those for your final projects. Post the slide and video links to this issue.
