Vocabulary List

Microcontroller

A small computer on a single integrated circuit containing a processor core, memory, and programmable input/output peripherals.

Datasheet

A document that provides details about a component or device, including its specifications, electrical characteristics, and usage guidelines.

Development workflow

The sequence of steps involved in the process of designing, coding, testing, and deploying software or hardware.

Embedded programming

Writing code for microcontrollers or embedded systems, typically focusing on controlling hardware devices or performing specific tasks within constrained environments.

Protocols

A set of rules or standards that govern communication between devices or systems.

Schematic Editor

Software tool used for designing electronic circuits, typically representing components and their connections through symbols and lines.

PCB Editor

Software tool for designing printed circuit boards (PCBs), where components are arranged and connected to create electronic circuits.

Footprints

The physical layouts or patterns of components on a PCB, indicating where each component should be placed and soldered.

Mods CE

Presumably a software tool used for formatting or editing design files for manufacturing or milling PCBs.

Milling

The process of removing material from a workpiece using a rotating cutting tool, often used in PCB fabrication to create circuit traces.

Soldering

Joining two or more metal components together by melting and flowing solder into the joint.

Multimeter

A measuring instrument used to measure voltage, current, and resistance in electrical circuits.

IDE (Integrated Development Environment)

A software application that provides comprehensive facilities to programmers for software development, typically including a code editor, compiler/interpreter, and debugging tools.

GPIO (General Purpose Input/Output)

Pins on a microcontroller that can be programmed to either input or output digital signals.
