Final Project Ideas
To
coincide with the studies I am already undertaking the initial thought
is develop a prototype structural building system out of timber using
digital fabrication techniques that will be shown to me through out the
course. On a similar
theme, I also thought of looking at new methods of connecting elements
of buildings to aid in building erection, overall durability and user
comfort – through moulding and forming techniques etc.
Looking at the
module areas, the first two themes do not include any electronics or
networking elements, which appear heavily in the course. An idea
that will include these elements is to create a wireless way to control
the lights in your house. Perhaps an app based program, that will
allow you to remotely turn on certain lights on in your house if you
are away during the evening for security purposes.
Alternatively
many of the projects that have been undertaken previously have involved
fun ideas and are useful personally to them. With this in mind, a
mobile workstation that would allow me to sit on a couch comfortably,
while using a laptop including timer to show how long I've been sat in
place and give me alarms to get up and move about.
Of course these
ideas may well never come to fruition and the final project may be
drastically different from these initial ideas depending on where my
interests in the course may take me!
