Hi, my name is Tom and I currently
live in Glasgow, UK.
I am studying for a PhD at the University of Strathclyde, my main topic of
study is investigating the potential for using home grown British
timber in engineered solid timber building products and systems. Prior
to enrolling in this course I previously worked as a Structural
Engineer within a small consultancy firm specialising in traditional
timber framing and adobe construction practices.
My main interest
is about providing robust housing solutions from natural home grown
materials and looking into how modern methods of fabrication and design
can aid the development of these products and the UK housing industry.
It is hoped that through this course I will gain an understanding of
many of the digital fabrication principles available and be able to
explore the possibilities for implementing within the housing industry.
