About this assignment

Objective of this Assignment

Individual Assignment:
Measure something: add a sensor to a microcontroller board that you have designed and read it.

Group Assignment:
Probe an input device's analog levels and digital signals.

Homemade Resistive Touchpads

In this Assignment I made some Resistive Touchpads which acted as an input for my microcontroller.

Component list:
  • Arduino Uno (or any other microcontroller).
  • Aluminium foil paper (good conductor).
  • Wires (can be extracted from old cables).
  • Paper (bad conductor).
  • Pair of Sciccors.
  • Tape.
  • Multimeter (for checking contuinity, you can even use arduino).
  • Scroll down to see how I made it.

  • Giant Touchpad Piano

This is a huge Piano made using homemade Touchpads.
music tones play when people walk on it.
It can be kept in schools, Public places, etc.

    Advantages of Homemade Touchpads

    Reuseable.

    same pad can be used

    in various places.

You can make the Touchpads of any size and shape.

    (depending upon your application)

    Cost Effective.

    requires few materials

    and very less time.

Can handle more weight than 80kgs - 90kgs

and Sensitive enough to detect the weight of a small Drone (few grams).

    Can be made waterproof.

(by insulating between 2 plastic sheets)

What did I learn from this Assignment?
During this week, I didn't have access to my lab due to Corona Virus outbreak. Still i magnaged to complete my Assignment with very few resources. This concluded that we are only limited with our ideas and not with things.
