Final Project

Questions

  • What will it do?
  • This vehicle will serve to mobilize me inside the university and I will also use it to play.

  • Who's done what beforehand?
  • I was inspired by the design of a Go-Kart of wood from the company The Flatworks. I also checked Andrew Mao's webpage, who designed a Press-Fit Go-Kart.

  • What will you design?
  • As for the mechanical part, I will design the chassis, the seat, the steering and the coupling of the wheels and other components. For the electronic part, I will design a card that allows me to control a brushless electric motor.

  • What materials and components will be used?
  • The chassis will be mostly phenolic plywood. In addition, a brushless motor will be used.

  • Where will come from?
  • I will try to use local materials. Apparently, the only thing that will be imported from China, is the brushless motor and its driver.

  • How much will they cost?
  • The motor with its driver costs around 80 USD and the local phenolic plywood costs around 25 USD.

  • What processes will be used?
  • The manufacture of the chassis will be work in the ShopBot. Silicone will be used for the handlebars of the steering. And the other components will vary between laser cutting and 3D printing.

  • Doubts
  • The doubts I have are: How is the control of a brushless motor. Which batteries will be used and how they will be connected.
