11 Composites
Assignment for this week was to make and use composite material. Our teacher Anna offered to spend with us some more time on the shopbot. I designed 3d panel for interior wall.

We used foam for milling.
I covered foam with 2 layers of paint Gesso.
Then I used wax and mold release spray.
I cut 2 pieces of white fabric.
I placed them on the form and I covered with epoxy.
Then I used vacuum bagging. To prevent composite material from sticking to the bag I covered it with extra plastic and soft fabric.
Now I have to wait 24 hours for epoxy to dry...
There were some issues with a compressor, finally I have to say that the vaccum bagging process didnt work at all. Without this step my form didnt receive smooth shiny surface. I am planning to repeat all process again. Also layer of wax is difficult to clean from the surface. I am going to skip this layer next time.
