Computer Controlled Cutting
Group Assignment
Objective
Characterize your lasercutter's focus, power, speed, rate, kerf, joint clearance and types
Class
Explain the operation of every CO2 Laser
Explain the diference between Raster and Vector engrave
Explain the basic operations in LaserCA software
Explain the focus calibration procedure
Send a keychain test file
Excercise
Parametrize and cut the fablab template for diferent materials 1 student per material
Parametrize and cut the template for tolerance fitting in diferent materials 1 student per material.
Conclusions
As you might have noticed, the importante thing is to set correctly the speed, strength and number of times the laser should pass over the surface. It is important to check it beforehand with the responsible of the Fablab, as different materials recquire different settings, and different desired outcomes need to be set in the machine.
A good practice is to test the machine, then save the desired settings for each desired outcome for each material in a table of settings
