Computer Aided desing

Let's design and experiment

GIMP INKSCAPE 3D Design

This week we get an introduction to computer-aided design. Our task for this week is: Modeling in both 2D and 3D, We must also model our final project even though it may change at the end. We have to experiment, I decided to start with inkcaspace, I already had it on my computer so I started exploring more about its tools and watching tutorials to know how I can take advantage of it. For tests with 3D design, I am going to use Soliwork, fusion 360, Openscad blender and FreeCad.

Tip of the day! and task is also...
We have to take into account the weight of our website and I had already mentioned it in week one, here Neil explains to us that it is not necessary to have more pixels on the screen, I know that we have We want our page to look nice and clear but you must take into account the Kbyte , placing images that weigh GB would be unnecessary, since it would be slow to load your page and you would also go to the black list, so you must compress your images before to publish on your website, now I show you some tools that they taught us so that you can compress
Update! I will start exploring 2D desing

GIMP

GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) and Batch Image Manipulation Plugin (BIMP)

I didn't understand what it was, maybe the definition helps you understand what this tool is about.
GIMP (GNU Image Manipulation Program) is a free and open source image manipulation program. It is available for several platforms, including Windows, macOS and Linux. GIMP offers many similar features to commercial programs like Adobe Photoshop, such as layer editing, color adjustments, selection tools, and more. It is a powerful and versatile tool used by graphic designers, digital artists and photography enthusiasts. As for BIMP, Batch Image Manipulation Plugin (BIMP), which is a plugin for GIMP. BIMP allows batch manipulations on images, meaning you can apply the same operations to multiple images simultaneously. It can be useful for repetitive tasks and saving time in image processing.
I saw some tutorials that I will leave here so you can understand the advantage of using this tool, it is just as easy as the others.

Photopea

Photopea is an online image editor created in 2013 by independent developer Ivan Kuckir.

Photopea is an online image editing application that has gained popularity for offering functionalities similar to Adobe Photoshop, but for free and accessible through the web browser. It helped me to be able to edit my photos and lower the resolution of the image to make it lighter.I loved it. Can you manage the resolution and measurements of my photo

Pixlr

You can edit your photos even on your cell phone

Online image editing tool that offers similar features to more advanced image editing programs. Like Photopea, Pixlr has become popular for being accessible through the web browser, meaning there is no need to download or install software on your device. Pixlr offers an easy-to-use interface and various editing features, including layers, color adjustments, selection tools, and much more. It is also available in different versions, such as Pixlr X and Pixlr E, each with a specific set of features and levels of complexity, allowing users to choose the one that best suits their needs and abilities. As with any image editing tool, choosing between Photopea and Pixlr will depend on your personal preferences and specific needs. I really liked this tool, I find it intuitive and when I blurred what I wanted it for, I liked the simple options they provide.

MyPaint vs Krita

MyPaint has an infinite canvas, Krita and GIMP have images with a certain size.

Krita is cross-platform, MyPaint and GIMP are available on Windows and macOS, but the underlying technology makes it really difficult to use them - you'll have even more trouble on tablets with those apps. GIMP is another application intended for working with photographs, Krita and MyPaint are applications intended for painting.but in my tests, what I did with Krita is to be able to use it to blur photos, and I think it works very well. Many times I wanted to blur some photos and now this is an option.

ImageMagick

Here you will be able to see all the progress of the weeks

ImageMagick is an open source software suite designed for image manipulation and conversion. Its versatility makes it a good tool for performing various operations on images, such as changing formats, adjusting sizes, rotating, mirroring, and more. Commonly used via command line or programming interfaces, ImageMagick is appreciated for its ability to batch process images, composite images, adjust colors, and support camera RAW formats. With a focus on automation and the ability to perform advanced editing tasks, ImageMagick is a preferred choice for those looking for a comprehensive and flexible tool. Its use ranges from image manipulation in scripts and workflows to integration into web applications and servers for large-scale image processing tasks. The suite also provides support for a wide variety of image formats, making it a powerful and adaptable option for various needs related to image editing and manipulation. easy to install, it doesn't take me more than 1 minute, it doesn't take up much space, problems I had, is that I have a Window operating system and apparently it doesn't work as I expected and it can barely reduce the photo I was testing, because at the beginning it came out super giant and then trying a little I managed to put it in a considerable size, then I tried to save it in a small size that doesn't weigh much but I couldn't do it, it didn't give me file type options to save it, so I left this program alone, and continued with the rest.

Inkscape

Inkscape is a free and open source vector graphics editor and is available for all platforms.

Inkscape is a free and open source vector graphics editor and is available for all platforms. Now what I did is take an image from the internet and place vectorize bitmap and I know you're wondering what that is? Bitmap vectorization is a process that transforms raster images in pixelated formats into vector images composed of geometric elements. This process offers key advantages, such as the ability to scale without loss of quality, making it easy to adapt to different sizes without distortions. Additionally, vectorization allows for more precise editing, file size reduction, and improves text readability, which is useful in graphic design, illustration, and animation. Tools such as Adobe Illustrator, Inkscape and CorelDRAW are commonly used to carry out this process, providing versatility and greater control over the visual composition of vectorized images. Transforming raster images to vector images not only optimizes the quality and manipulation of images, but also facilitates their use in various applications, such as web design, multimedia, and animations, making visual content more adaptable, efficient, and versatile.

3D design

FreeCad

FreeCAD is one of the most popular modeling software on the market. It is used to design objects of all sizes and, as the name suggests, it is free.

The Fricad menu offers a wide range of tools and functionalities designed to cover all stages of the design and analysis process of metal and concrete structures. It includes options for three-dimensional modeling of structural elements, such as beams, columns and connections, as well as tools for assigning loads, performing static and dynamic analyses, and verifying the design according to engineering regulations and standards. In addition, it provides advanced optimization and visualization functionalities, along with integration capabilities with other structural design and analysis programs, facilitating a fluid and efficient work experience for engineers and designers.

Blender

Blender is a free and open source software tool used for 3D modeling, animation, rendering, simulations, compositing, motion tracking, and more. Here I will provide you with a basic guide on how to use Blender

For the Blender edition, what I first did was place the mode in editing, then in the cube that was given to me by default, I selected one of the upper faces and I put delete Upper face and a hollow cube was made. Now I proceed to make the cover that is going to be like the door of my module for drying seeds. Now to give thickness to my module I am going to use the properties bar to the modifier that has the key figure, we are going to modify it and we are going to click on solidify. I am going to put a little color on it. a wood color at the top Where it says shading In color we place unique and choose the color we want from there in the box.

Process

We will see the step by step of what I did to create my first design in blender

I'm going to describe the basic elements of the Blender user interface, such as 3D view windows, panels, toolbars, and menus. Point out how to navigate the 3D view using the mouse and basic keyboard shortcuts.

Using the default cube that comes when you start, I started modifying the size.

I give it a size of 40 cm by 40 cm

put in edit mode

Here we go to face mode, and here we start by using the keys like ATL+A to be able to select a face

here I erased the upper face to make the hole I needed for my box

Now we select the edge option, and then with the shift we select all the edges.

Now you click on view shading, so that it shows the object in structure mode.

Now we move on to using the "E" Key to extrude and have wall thickness, I loved how easy it was..

Don't forget to press the "E" key to extrude and the "S" key to pull the thickness.

calculate a measurement for the thickness of your box.

Here I turned it and the box is almost ready.

Design finished with a wood color to refer to the box that I will use in my fruit dryer.

Solidworks

SolidWorks (stylized as SOLIDWORKS) is a brand within Dassault Systèmes that develops and markets solid modeling computer-aided design, computer-aided engineering, 3D CAD design and collaboration, analysis, and product data management software

The SolidWorks platform allows users to create 2D engineering drawings and production-ready 3D models using a parametric feature-based approach. Now that I was making the door for my project, it took me almost 3 hours to make the design and at least be able to give it shape. It was a little complicated for me compared to Fusion 360, which was easier for me to design a piece. I am doing something wrong in the movement of my piece that I get an error, I will discover what I am doing wrong in the process.Tutorial I tried to follow but it had already taken 3 hours

Inventor

Autodesk Inventor is a powerful tool for 3D design, especially for applications in engineering and manufacturing.

From my technical perspective, the experience of designing in Autodesk Inventor stands out for its efficient approach and powerful tools. The ability to make parametric changes facilitates design adaptability, and simulation functions allow detailed evaluation of model performance. Although the interface may initially be complex for some, the learning curve often rewards users with a robust set of 3D design skills. Overall, those familiar with the Autodesk environment and seeking precision in design will find Inventor a valuable tool for engineering projects.

Fusion 360

Fusion 360 is a comprehensive computer-aided design (CAD), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), and simulation platform, developed by Autodesk.

Let's start by installing fusion, I had the opportunity to download it for free with the institutional email for a year, this allows me to experiment and test this tool for longer. I found it easy to move around on the platform and it makes a part in less than 30 minutes. I like the interface and the practicality to be able to make mechanical parts. I will continue practicing with this platform for future designs.

Design 1

Design 2

As you can see in my exploration of design programs, I really liked modeling in Fusion 360 and that is why I decided to model my final project prototype here.
