fablab ULB de Charleroi

About

The ULB Charleroi FabLab is a digital fabrication workshop open to all, located in Charleroi, Belgium. It opened in 2019.

The fablab is a service of the ULB (Université Libre de Bruxelles).

The FabLab has a wide range of machines and tools, including:

  • Laser cutters
  • 3D printers
  • 3D printer
  • UV printer
  • Vinyl cutter
  • A thermoforming machine
  • A heat press
  • A CNC
  • Electronics lab with CNC PCB
  • Sewing machine
  • A digital embroidery machine
  • Wood workshop
    • Digital “SHAPER” routers

These machines and tools enable users to create a wide variety of objects, such as prototypes, spare parts, works of art, jewellery, toys, etc.

The FabLab offers training courses and workshops to learn how to use the machines and tools. It also organises events such as hackathons, competitions and exhibitions.

The ULB Charleroi FabLab is open to everyone, whatever their age, level of training or skills. It is a place for sharing, collaboration and creativity.

Objectives

The objectives of the FabLab are as follows:

  • Facilitate access to digital manufacturing technologies
  • Promote creativity and innovation
  • Develop people’s skills -Strengthen the link between the university and society

Impact

The ULB Charleroi FabLab has already had a positive impact on the Charleroi region. It has enabled many people to discover digital manufacturing technologies and develop their skills. It has also helped to create businesses and jobs.

The ULB Charleroi FabLab is an innovative project that has the potential to transform the Charleroi region into a hub of creativity and innovation.
