18. Project development¶
On this page I have documented the process of making my final project.
Project tracking questions¶
### What tasks have been completed, and what tasks remain?
- The physical shelf has already been made during week 7, the electronic components were completed during weeks 8, 9, and 11.
What’s working? what’s not?¶
- A majority of the project is working, but I still need to find a way to mount the color sensor in the shelf in such a way that it can sense colors accurately while remaining out of the way of what is on the shelf.
What questions need to be resolved?¶
-
The main question that I need to resolve is how I must connect and external power source to supply the correct amount of current to all of the LEDs, so they can be as bright as necessary even though I am using non programmable LEDs.
-
Another problem that needs to be fixed is the placement of the sensor so it can properly read colors
-
I also need to to figure out the best way to conceal my electronics and wires
When will the remaining steps take place?¶
-
A majority of the electronics have been done, however, I still need to create a board that will work with my project.
-
I also need to create a 3d printed component for cable management.
-
I also need to create the vinyl stickers to cover the resin on my shelf, so I can paint it.
-
Along with the stickers, I need to paint the shelf preferable white.
-
Assembling the two parts of the shelf as well as attaching the LED strip to the perimeter of the shelf.
-
lastly I also need to attach the 3d printed cable management piece to the butterfly to conceal my electronics the best I can.
What have you learned?¶
-
I have leaned many things including how to use various softwares and time management.
-
additionally I have learned about the importance of minor details like the location of components and the attention it takes to make something look aesthetically pleasing.
-
another important lesson I have learned is the importance of taking current and voltage into consideration. Due to a lack of current, the LED strip I am using was very dim and hardly visible. After adding an external power source to my project, the brightness of the LED changes due to a sufficient amount of current.
