20. Project development

For my final project I made a small automatic paddle boat that allows a person to go fishing hands free. It is powered by 9 volt batteries and has a pre-set sequence programmed into the ATtiny of a very minuscule PCB board, that is also connected to a motor driver. I used 2 DC motors (9V Heavy Duty DC Motor 12,500 RPM Max (1.08” Diameter x 1.48” Length). In this case I set the arduino code for it to run for 10 seconds, then stops for 5 seconds, and then go for 10 seconds again. The only direction this boat goes is straight and I did that because I wanted to mimic the similar flow of the bait in the water when it’s being dragged under the lake. And often the worm/bait goes in a forward swimming direction being pulled along in a straight line, very similar to when you are fishing with a real fishing rod, the worm goes straight and my boat is trying to simulate real worm movement with fake bait. By setting the board to control the motors in this way allows the worm to stop and go……and stop and go…… making it seem like a real live worm. It has time to sink and move around vs a continuous boat that drags along something that the fish thinks is most likely not food or bait of any sort. This way will have a greater chance of catching the fish.
