16. Applications and implications

Weekly Summary

  • Answering the question for Final Project

Assignments

  • Propose a final project masterpiece that integrates the range of units covered,

  • answering:

  • What will it do?
  • Who’s done what beforehand?
  • What will you design?
  • What materials and components will be used)
  • Where will come from?
  • How much will they cost?
  • What parts and systems will be made?
  • What processes will be used?
  • What questions need to be answered?
  • How will it be evaluated?
  • Your project should incorporate 2D and 3D design,
  • additive and subtractive fabrication processes,
  • electronics design and production,
  • embedded microcontroller interfacing and programming,
  • system integration and packaging
  • Where possible, you should make rather than buy the parts of your project
  • Projects can be separate or joint, but need to show individual mastery of the skills, and be independently operable

What will it do?

Mach maker device using ammonia sensor.

It is said that women, in particular, feel that a partner who has DNA that they do not have smells good (odorless).

However, Odor Identification Sensors are too expensive. so I will find a person who has strong ammonia smell in sweat.

Who’s done what beforehand?

A compatibility diagnostic device that takes a photo triggered by the energizing of each other’s hands when they touch each other. The device diagnoses the degree of excitement by sensing each other’s pulse and perspiration, and creates a photo with the results produced. You can preserve your memories with your lover or person you are interested in as the one and only photo in the world.

Guests sleep in a T-shirt for 3 nights to capture their odor print and bring it in a ziplock bag to the party. Guests smell the bags at their leisure throughout the party. If a guest finds the smell attractive, they take a picture with the bag at a photographer station. If you see a picture of a guest you find attractive holding your number, this is the greenlight to talk to them. Haaaay.

What will you design?

I will design a match maker with odor sensor.

What materials and components will be used?

  • wool gaze for bag
  • Gel solution of human skin for nose
  • PLA filament for case of inside nose
  • NeoPixel RGB TAPE LED
  • Acrylic for PCB
  • Conductive Copper Foil Tape for PCB
  • ammonia sensor (Mq137)

Where will come from?

I bought a MQ137 module(ammonia sensor) and LED tape.

I will make a PCB, silicon nose, case inside of nose and fabric bag.

How much will they cost?

Total 16,511yen = 129.13US dollar(05.22.2022)

What parts and systems will be made?

  • PCB
  • silicon nose
  • fabric bag
  • case of PCB, sensor and LED tape

What processes will be used?

  • Molding and Casting for silicon nose
  • UV printing for wool gaze
  • 3D printing for case of inside silicon nose
  • CNC milling or laser cutting and vinyl cutting for PCB

What questions need to be answered?

Get the ammonia sensor readings number right.

How will it be evaluated?

Taking middle number(not 0, not too high) from ammonia sensor, and LED lights are on.
