3D Scanning and Printing

\

the asinment this week was to test the limits of the 3-d printers, scan a object into a 3d model and to make and print a object that would not be posible without additive processes.

the test print

to test the limmitation of our printers we printed a standard test print. here is the final product.

the tests that this print did were an overhang test, a hole test, a bridge test, a suport test, a strangth test, a hole test and a scale test. this is a photo mid print

the prints were not 100% acrurate but there was a margenal amout of inactresy

Scan

for the scaning asinment I used the app Qlone it was fun to use and ended up with a nice scan the only problem is that to get a file that I could use for an 3-d printing cost money. here is the image of my scan.

My Print

the object that i desined was a square with multiple cuts in the side that are difent shapes. the way that I desined my shap was I made a cube and then cut a cube out of the side after that I extruded a square calum in the middle and used the extrude with offset to make a square floting in the middle. after that I cut the side of the outside cube into diffrent shapes. I then cut the inside cube with difernt shapes also.

The reson that I think that this shape would be hard to make is the inside square and the diferent shapes of the sides along with the overhangs.

the print that i made was a square inside a square with difernt shapes cut out of the sides here are some images of the final product

to make this print work i needed suports arount the holes cut into the shape here are two images showing the two layers of suport
