  • Input : The objective is to control Marble Maze with hand movement and/or a joystick. Thus the input would be accelerometer mounted on hand for the first control method. and joystick in the second.

  • Output : The two servo motors will be the output whose rotation would be limited to 20 degrees in each direction.

What is Machine Design? What is Mechanical Design?

  • Mechanical Design or Machine Design is one of the important branches of Engineering Design. To understand what exactly machine design or mechanical design is let us consider the example of the gear box of the car. The gear box transmits the motion and the power of the engine to the wheels of the vehicle. The gearbox comprises group of gears which are subjected to not only motion but also the load of the vehicle. For the gears to run at desired speeds and take desired loads it is important that they should be designed. During designing various calculations are performed considering desired speeds and loads and finally the gear of particular material and specific dimensions that can take all loads and that can be manufactured at least possible cost giving optimum performance is designed. In similar fashion all the components of the car, including engine, have to be designed so that they optimally meet all the functional requirements at lowest possible cost. This whole process of designing is called as machine design or mechanical design.

  • The knowledge of machine design helps the designers as follows:

  • To select proper materials and best suited shapes,

  • To calculate the dimensions based on the loads on machines and strength of the material

  • Specify the manufacturing process for the manufacture of the designed component of the machine or the whole machine.

PURPOSE (Group Work)

  • As i Mentioned above we wanted to have make something fun game in machine design we are going to make Fun marble maze and wanted to controll the maze Rotation with servos below for now we started working on mechanical part. Visit Group websitefor more detail.

INSPIRATION

  • Our inspiration for the project was the “The [amazing] Maze” made by Katie Levine and our regional instructor Ohad Meyuhas.

INPUT

  • Our main obajective is to controll Marble maze with Hand movement . So our input is Hand gesture which will controll the Maze. we are using accelerometer sensor for giving inputs. accelerometer will give relative value of x and y position and according to value Servos will rotate for specific degree.

PURPOSE (Individual Work)

  • In Mechanical design Week i am designing the supporting devices for my final project that look like wheel which is helps me in travel my circuit box with neo pixel.

Mechanism

-These included a special wheel, made by me, rotating on thread, resposible for the movement of the box, designed in software Fusion 360. This mechanism is also used in final project for the movement of neopixel and circuit box.

Raw file for geared wheel

Explanation of what you made, and why the gear has to be special

  • I made geared wheel which i need in my final project, there is a question what special in that ? So, this geared wheel has specific half round inside.
  • First of all i am using stepper motor for my final project that helps me to calculating steps but some theory gonna wrong with me.

Explanation of how it fits into the main project

  • I have pearl thread rope that work with this geared wheel work fine. This geared will 3d part

Explanation of the process - the design, construction and manufacture

  • First of all i design one part of that round then give then round pattern , make a second surface or offset make outer surface thats make border. There is an jointed part which helps me to connect with motor.

Process of manufacture & Process of assembly into the project

  • This product was 3D printed, with infill of 40%, material PLA, time consuming 53 mins in ultimaker 2+.

My Role

  • My role included sourcing of components required according to the need. I contacted ACRYLIC SHEET DEALERS as listed below:

    2: Sainath Electronics, Nehrunagar

    3: Lucky electronics, Relief Road

    4: Draco Electronics, Naranpura

-I also helped in various activities like machine operation in 3-D printing and laser cutting.

Final Content and Video

  • Final Video included all the steps of work that we performed during the week like Mechanism testing, laser cutting, 3-D printing, post processing and prototype tesing. This video in detail gives the outline of the work performed by us during the entire week. Process of video making included hardwares like camera and mobile phone cameras, software like Filmora and google photos. These included skills like slicing of video, editing and merging the individual activity’s videos.

  • Ohad is our remote guru and we got inspiration from one of his students who made mechanical marble maze.

  • Dhruv Patel and Dhruv Thakkar worked on mechanism,
  • Samuil Haoque worked on electronics
  • Karan Banna worked in designing the top of marble maze,And I helped in assembling and sticking of the top of the marble maze.
