Scope of the project

The aim of this project is to design an RC robot that would make my nephew happy and will encourage him to love the field of robots.

Project plan

the plan for this project is to design the stracutre of the electronics elements and the wheelbase by lasser cutter. to use atmega board for programming. to use blutooth module for connection and to design a mobile app as an input to remote control the robot.

Learning outcomes:

  • design a 3d model of a robot
  • fabricate it digitaly
  • programm it
  • make it work
  • make your nephew happy.

what will it do

it will move around by the orders that is given through the mobile application. in details, to move forward, backwards, left, right and stop.

who has done what beforehand?

I couldnt find resources of people who has done the same project before, but I have seen good project where actual robots were built. here are some of the examples:

What will you design:

  • a robot shape for the chassis
  • a structure
  • an electronic cercuit for the atmega.

What parts and systems will be made?

  • robot chassis including its head, arms and body.
  • robot stuctture.
  • PCb board
  • Mobile APP

What materials and components will be used:

  • PLA filament for the 3D printer - available in the lab
  • 3mm acrylic sheet for the structure - available in the lab

Most of the parts will be purchased online from Digi-key and some of them will be from IG electronics which is a shop in Bahrain

What process will be used

  • 3D designing for the chassis
  • Lasser cutter for the strucutre
  • interface and application programming for controlling the robot

what questions need to be answered.

would the mobile app be a good tool to inspire kids to love more robotics?

how will be evaluated

if the student was capable to make the robot move by the remote control
