Scanning

This week I have used three different types of scanning system.

At the lab I used the next engine scanner to directly scan a piece of carved wood.

Using 123D I scanned a small item in the house  or rather photographed a small item and loaded into the scanner web site.

Later I moved on from that and photographed my car loading that into the 123D website to achieve a scan .

I also used the Roland scanner attachment to scan a small object which I had manufactured through the use of a cnc router.

I was surprised at the length of time all the scanners took and from my results you will see that the most successful has been the Roland Scanner.

The Next Engine scanner may be good with a simpler  model  I would like to try this again to see if a different orientation or simpler shape would give better results.

The Roland Scanner was one which I have just purchased and where I was experimenting with its different modes of operation, I could not use the Roland scanner at the Maklab as it has been busy cutting my numerous circuit boards.

For 2015 I have supplemented the scanning with a scan of a life size statute bust of Sir David Stow which sits in the foyer of one of our buildings. This is part of a project that I am completing for my head of department. It was printed in a number of sizes so that I could confirm what size of model he was looking for.
