Project Progression

My objective in taking this course is to be able to conduct a high school level program in Newport, R.I.

January 10th was a course overview and setting up our portfolio web page. This session was productive.

January 14th was a session on 2D CAD and the Vinyl Cutter - This session was also productive.

January 17, 21 and 22 were dedicated to Version Control. The sessions were not very productive for the following reasons:

  • Unresolved error messages accompanied the software download (windows).
  • Execution of the application froze the application and then froze the computer. I have suspended use of mecurial as a result. The risk is too high to other programs and files I have on my computer. I am going to purchase a computer and do a stand alone installation.
  • Intermittent internet connectivity precluded staying synchronized with class instruction.

January 28th was an introduction to the laser cutter.

February 3 - Sketchup was used to generate a 3-D Cad file that will eventually feed the 3-D printer. The 3-D file is a sign for the top of the carousel.

February 7 - An Inkscape file was generated to make a 'press fit' file to feed the laser printer. The file creates a platform for the carousel.
