Assignment
make and program the FabISP in-circuit programmer

This week objective was to learn how to operate with the milling machine (Modela MDX-20), solder surface mount components to the board and program the FabISP.

1 .- Milling the board
I used FabModules in Ubuntu and Modela MDX-20 for milling the board.
There are many good tutorials about how to do it.
I used the one we have in FabLab Leon and this one:
How to make circuits on the Modela milling machine

I made some changes on the default values of the FabModules:

To mill the traces I used a 1/64 drill bit
Diameter: 0.4
Offset: 4
Overlap: 0.5
2D threshold: 0.5
Z: -0.1 I used -0.15
Speed: 4
Jog: 1.0

To mill the outlines I used a 1/32″ drill bit
Diameter: 0.79
Offsets: 1
Overlap & 2D thr: 0.5
Error: 1.1
z2D: - 1. 8 (material thickness + 0.3)
Speed: 0.5
Jog: 1.0

2.- Stuff the Board

I used this video for learning how to solder surface mount components to the board:

After a little more of ten minutes I have this.

That is before resoldering two pins on the connector because they didn`t make good contact.

3.- Program the board I used this tutorial

I have followed this tutorial:
How to Assemble and Program the FabISP

this was the easy task of the assignment
