Plan a final project masterpiece that integrates the range of units covered.
from a lightstick to a concert at home

process
This week I finished the design of the project and the system. I will focus in the questions for the final presentation while explaining the design and process.
d e s i g n
1. What will it do?

It is a modular light sculpture that changes color as you assembly it and by sound. Bringing an art experience with sound like a concert lightning game.
(To see how I end up with this idea check the process page from week 1 to midterm review where I consolidated the idea.)
2. Who’s done what beforehand?

changing color diagram of my final project
I had to research a lot about connecting pieces and changing colors. I alredy had made the petal I wanted to relicate and knew I just have 4 options to change color as the XIAO ESP32-C3 has limited pins and each petal will need 2 pins. There is how I found this projects about music reaction and RGB LED changing colors that guide:
- Clara Devanz: Radiant
- Nadieh Bremer : jigsaw puzzle
From week 2 I searched about the projects that where shown in the student's bootcamp from last year. There is how I get to Clara's final project where she explored with changing color rgb leds by touch. That change of color by another action is what I wanted in the structure of the sculpture with its modular petals.
I think I searched for this final project as in the reviews someone recommend it to me. Because each piece change color by connecting them and also reacted to sound.
3. What will you design?
I have 4 main pieces: The base, the 2 stems, 2 branches, and 4 petals. I have the design of each but still need to design the joints of them all.

base of aluminium where will be all the connections.
I alredy fabricated the base. I left it empty inside so I could fit the electronic board there. I still need to laser-cut the acrylic edge so I can see the connections when I flip the base over.

schematic design of the circuit.
I have alredy designed the schematic of the pcb board. After lots of changes there is just 4 pins left to make the petals change color. I still need to fit the pcb design in the base measures.

system to connect the petals.
The most important design is the joints of the stem with the petals. The test I made considered the pin socket outside the object as it was from the general pcb I made in week 8. But now I think it will be better to design the pin socket inside the stem and make the socket of the petals outside its case to fit inside the stem.

4. What materials and components will be used?
Materials:
Transparent acrylic, aluminium, transparent PETG, Clear 4K Resin and white vynil.
Components to use:

5. Where will come from?
Almost all the materials and components will com from the FabLab Ulima. However I have to buy the transparent PETG , the rgb led stripsand the microphone pcb. from some local stores.
6.How much will they cost?
I just linked the extra materials and components I had to buy. More of the components and materials where provided by the fablab. Such as the aluminum block of 150mm of diameter I sculpt for the base.

7. What parts and systems will be made?
Everything. I separated the system in 6 parts:

8. What processes will be used?
- LASERCUT: BASE
The aluminium base is open from upside down so the pcb board fit. So to close this I will cut an acrylic in lasercut.
- 3D PRINTING: clear resin and PETG
For the petals and stems
- 5 AXIS CNC MILL: Aluminium
For the sculpture base to be heavy and strong.
- Embedded programming: rgb leds
To program the leds with the microphone sensor.
- Electronic production: pcb board
For all the rgb leds and strips to connect.
