So I decided to try something I have wanted to try for a while, I decided to try using a conductive thread in the embroidery machine, but first I had to decide what to make. I wanted to make some sort of skull and found this. I put it into Inkscape and traced it with multiple scans, duplicated the darkest scan and took the triangle off so I had one with and one without so I could turn the one with purple and put the black one on top. I decided to put two green leds in the eyes and put the battery on the back so I measured them and put them into places.
I exported both the cat and the lines to connect the leds to the battery as PNG.
I imported the cat PNG into Pe-design 11, pressed image and selected Auto punch.
The first window to open is asking if you want to cut some of the image off and I had no need for that, so I clicked Next. The window after that is asking if you want to change the size, I did not need to do that, so I clicked Next. On the third and last window you can play around with the setting to get the image like you want it and then press Finish.
Once I pressed Finish I could see how it would be sewn out and on the left you can see the order of how it would be sewn out, in the top middle you can change the type of sew type, I like to have it all the same so I changed it all except the teeth to fill stitch. On the right you can change the colors.
After I was happy with how it looked I saved it as a PES file.
I did the same with the lines.
The conductive thread bobbin that we bought did not fit the embroidery machine so I used a sewing machine to put some thread on an old part.
So I made new lines that were running stitch and longer so I could loosen the ends and use them.
Those lines turned out better, so I sewed the cat on top.
It turned out really pretty.
I pulled out the ends and tied more thread to it, put the leds and battery in place and tied it on. I could not figure out why it worked one moment but not the next so I checked to see if every thing was conducting right and it was and then I noticed that the ground thread was touching the battery so I taped the thread down and now it works like a charm.
