13. Networking and communications

Really, 13th week???...yeah, almost over.

Networking and communications between our fabricated modules and boards....it seemed simple....it wasn´t.

First, the easy part...use Eagle, designed a board following the FabAcademy example....Flatcam, mechanised, soldering...simple...no,nothing simple

rn4871 sch board placa

So, after we've got the board.....we tested....nothing happened.

Tryied with different config....nothing....different ports...also nothing

Ok, time to double checked....well, maybe there was a bad solder over a footprint...or it wasn't enough gap between paths..

Let's checked again....oh, we found a faulty solder....and fixing it, we dammaged the bluetooth module and some of the footprints of the board.

Well, mechanized again, solder....and previous examination before tested....ok, i got confused a regulator for another...5 volts instead 3.3

Get the correct regulator....and tested the board....it got heat up a lot...the capacitor and the module RN4871...OMG!!!

Again, double checked....and found out....the FTDI cable was for 5 volts instead of 3.3volts....shame, shame, shame.

At this point, we need a superior being (our instructor) to help us and punish us if we made another childish mistake.

Regulator 3.3volts....checked....FTDI 3.3 volts...checked....RN4871 without any bridges or shortcircuits...checked.

Time to tested....connected to my computer, and eureka, gave some feedback....but died...for that briefly tiny second i thought thats was it...but not.

Right now we are again with no communication between boards, because we couldn't figured it out.

Are we sad? Of course....are we defeated? No way....what are we going to do? Look for more examples, make more and tests, lots of tests and no more mistakes with our components.

Update

After all, it works....we got connection.

Well, because i couldn´t get to work the module way i want it to, i used a HC-06 module my project.

Update 2.0

Last chance, because we don´t get enough of the last test we did.....let´s have another try

This time, we used 2 boards, one from Patricia´s electronic production and one from mine.

To make connection between them, we upload the same sketch to both boards, a simple push button sketch, and connect by RX-SCK.

Also, connect de VCCs and GNDs from both boards.

First we made the test connecting the Patricia´s with the FTDI and by ISP mine, and then we did the same thing but with the boards changed.

It worked great, both ways it did turn the led with both buttons.
