19. Invention, intellectual property and income

Invention:

“Maestra” is the title of my final project. This project came from a personal interest in finding new ways to learn instruments that focus on building emotional connections with music as a starting point. Below is my dissemination plan:

  • Purpose: The main goal of this project is to introduce a different way of learning instruments that is focused on building emotional connections with sound instead of technical capabilities.

  • Audience: This project is a personal exploration in personalised and experiential learning tools. My aim is to expand this project into an easy to assemble kit to make it possible for others to experiment with personalising learning new instruments.

  • Methods: The prototype will be completed using skills and tools from Fab Academy, in addition to local resources through Talents Lab, Khobar.

Income:

  • Marketing: This project was not intended for commercial use therefore marketing was not a consideration.

  • Manufacturing: Manufacturing this project would include adjusting materials and electronic components to a customizable constructable kit that anyone can build and use. The manufacturing can be done in Talents Lab, Khobar. On a larger scale, manufacturing can be done by a third party with higher mass-production capabilities.

  • Future possibilities: The prototype at this stage is an exploration of the concept, if it can be useful, and if it is, how can I share it in an accessible way. It is a starting point for music learning with senses, it can be expanded and personalized based on each persons wants and needs. Moving forward, the prototype will be a guide on what needs to be changed and adapted. In addition to motion, it can be expanded to touch and sight using light and different textures. In this case, the product and components will be reduced to a customizable constructable kit that anyone can build and use.
