As this weeks group project, we had to test some casting materials and had to find the corresponding datasheets. The most used materials in our lab are silicone, concrete and wax.

Datasheets

The datasheets we found are typical Lab-datasheets as used for almost every chemical. We learned that these materials can be more dangerous as we thought. (Better not drink concrete)

Sadly we were not able to find a Datasheet for the wax we used.

Test casts

Since we had problems with our cnc mill we used Rene's silicone-cast to do the test-casts.

While casting we noticed a few problems:

• When casting wax rubber bands will snap if they get in contact with the hot liquid
• When casting concrete add a little more water than stated in the manual so you can pour it better
• When you added additional water make sure you pour it out of the mold once the concrete had a little time to set then add some additional concrete till the mold is full
