How to make almost anything

    Assignment 17 - week 17 - May 27

Develop a plan for dissemination of your final project

    Invention, Intellectual Property, and Income

One of the main problems when designing an electronic board is the distribution of the components and routing their paths, this is easily solved by designing a double sided PCB. However in this process both sides must be aligned, otherwise the holes and vias in each layer won't match this usually happens when turning the boards manually. I decided to build a machine that can make double side PCB boards easier, as current machines usually finish one side of the board first and then the user swaps the board side being careful to keep the pcb same location. My project seek to reduce or even eliminate the time spent changing the side of the board. I'm going to patent the principle of rotation of PCB board of this machine in INDECOPI in Lima Peru, I'm going to use the fast patent program, which will reduce from 39 to 18 months the deadline for registration in order to promote the increasing number of national patents.

A patent is the title that the State grants to a person, to exercise the exclusive right to exploit an invention in exchange for the release of the same. This right is granted for a time and in a given territory. In Peru, the term of a patent is 20 years and a utility model is 10, from the date of filing of the application. The right to exclude others from commercial exploitation of a product or procedure only born with the granting of the relevant registration.

For this reason, if the registration is granted, the holder may submit to the Committee on Inventions and New Technologies of Indecopi a complaint against anyone who violates their rights and can be retroactively from the date the application has been validly filed, having at its disposal all the means that the law provides for their defense.

For a foreign-registered patent is in force in Peru and may have an exclusive right to an invention, it must be registered in our country, and likewise, a patent registered in Peru is valid only in the Peruvian territory or in the country where it is registered.

However, a patent application filed for the first time in Peru, gives a priority right to apply for registration in other countries for twelve months (counted from the date of submission of the application).

In Peru, the Directorate of Inventions and New Technologies of Indecopi is responsible for these records and provides the search service Information Technology, through which you can get an inkling about the novelty of specific invention. The Directorate performs the search of the product or procedure indicated by the user, based on information published patent applications both in Peru and abroad. As a result, the patent applicant summaries that management believes are related to the product or process of interest will be provided.

The applicant should review these documents and assess the possibility of submitting an application for registration to the Directorate. Aptly, in order to avoid excessive delays before Indecopi has just opened the "PATENT FAST" program.
