Propose a final project masterpiece that integrates the range of units covered, answering: What will it do?, Who’s done what beforehand?, What will you design?, What materials and components will be used?, Where will come from?, How much will they cost?, What parts and systems will be made?, What processes will be used?, What questions need to be answered?, How will it be evaluated?, Your project should incorporate 2D and 3D design, additive and subtractive fabrication processes, electronics design and production, embedded microcontroller interfacing and programming,system integration and packaging., Where possible, you should make rather than buy the parts of your project Projects can be separate or joint, but need to show individual mastery of the skills, and be independently operable.

What will it do?

CircoLed is a programable colorful circular wall LED with a diameter of 65 mm. Connects to each other like Beehive.

What materials and components will be used?

For CircoLed body ABS in great option, it’s tough durable and can withstand high temperatures, or I can use PLA for more dimensional accuracy . As a light defuser I will use white Acrylic sheet.

For electronics I will use:

  1. FR1 copper clad laminate.
  2. Capacitive sensor.
  3. RGBW LED.
  4. Speaker.
  5. USB port.
  6. Sound sensor.
  7. 5 V power supply.
  8. ESP866 wifi microchip.
  9. XCO5 Bluetooth module.

Where will come from?

Most of the materials and components are available at Fablab Dubai. The rest will be discussed with mr. Hashim.

How much will they cost?

More research need to be done to answer the question.

What processes will be used?

For the body will be designed using fusion 360 and 3d printed using either PLA or ABS.

The light defuser acrylic will be made by laser cutter.

The electronics will be CNC milled.

What questions need to be answered?

How CircoLed better than the products available in the market? It can simply be programed to suit consumer imagination. Can last forever!, not as other product with simple guidance you can change the LED capacitive sensor etc. It’s circular that means you can shape it infinite ways.

How will it be evaluated?
